As someone who's has been building a 4x8' machine over the past year I would totally recommend the CNCRouterParts kit. My machine is 90% identical and built basically from a machine I saw on here (jsantos's 4x8). Take a look at the amazing detail and accuracy he was getting with that machine. I made my own custom CNC out of 80/20 extrusion, thk linear rails and ballscrews but that takes a lot of work. I'm my opinion, I don't think an ox or a shapeoko will be rigid enough for a 4x8 sized router. Great for a smallish CNC though. A Cncrouterparts build would give you a very good CNC for what you plan on doing.
